Took a while to get into it as there were alot of characters. But once I did, it was a good book which I enjoyed.

i like Sandfords writing a lot, and this was very readable, but it also felt a bit like a rejected Lucas Davenport novel.3.5 stars rounded up cos i feel like it.

3.5 This was an interesting political mystery that included murder, mayhem, and a questionably ethical protagonist, Jake Winter. Jake's smart, knows his way around DC, and works for the White House - principally the President's Chief of Staff. It always pisses me off (but never surprises me) to hear of all the shenanigans that happen on the taxpayer's dime and this one certainly was no exception. It read fast, and I was happy to see the touches of Virgil Flowers that Sandford gave Jake. I guess it's time for another dose of Virgil....

A well written, engaging story. Typical John Sanford and with a character that reminded me too much Lucas Davenport, but a really nice change from police work to politics. I had not heard of this before and don't know if there are other books with hero, Jake Winter, but I will read them if there are.

You don''t know who you can trust and there are twists and turns right to the end. Great read.

This was just an okay book. An action/thriller type of book that had a decent story and characters. At times it seemed to drag. The ending was just sort of ehhhhh to me.
