This book is really sweet. Part of what I loved so much about this book is that it doesn't focus on Chloe's uncle marrying another man--that part isn't questioned and is normal. Chloe is worried because her favorite uncle is getting married, she thinks he won't have time for her, and she's worried that he will have kids that he will enjoy more than her. I went through this with my niece when I got married, so I found it really relatable. Also, when I went to review this, I discovered that apparently this was originally released with animal depictions. This edition is MUCH better for representation. Lovely.

For: people who love love; readers wanting a book with diversity that handles the struggle of one's favorite uncle getting married.

Possible red flags: LGBTQ+ wedding; feeling anxious.

Two very different editions of this book. This one features actual humans!
Lovely and colorful.

Here's another sweet tale of an alternative guinea pig family that has been banned/challenged from some libraries. The book is beautifully illustrated but needs a little bit more in the plot with regards to the guinea pig marriage if this book is to be about teaching young children it's ok to be in a family with same sex couples since it seems to be lacking some emphasis. Otherwise this is a cute, simple story.

Mixed feelings here. I found the storyline to be a little bit of a rip off of another book published earlier Uncle Peter's Amazing Chinese Wedding. It is also a bit strange to see the whole story be about guinea pigs. Why not real people? I am happy to see diversity, but it is not my favorite. Much preferred In Our Mothers'House.

I loved that the focus of this book wasn’t on Uncle Bobby marrying a man, but on Chloe’s anxiety about losing her uncle once he gets married. It was really sweet and I love how it naturally spoke about queerness.

I hadn't heard of this one. It doesn't seem to be all that well known. Really if it hadn't been banned, I probably would never have heard of it. Which is too bad. Because it's got nice art and distinctive characters with personalities and they look distinctive. And it would be a good picture book for your kid when a favorite relative is getting married.
