Captivating mystery

Mysterious till the very end with lots of twists and turns and definitely kept me guessing. The ending wrapped everything up nicely too.

What an awesome read! This book had me second-guessing until the very end. Definitely a must-read.

The mystery was good but I had the first half figured out. In this Laurie was extremely naive-cheating I’m someone is not enough for the spouse to kill the lover? Pub-lease! That it was unbelievable that a woman would be happy to be free from her husband and the father of her children because he was horrible? Like I know you had a good husband and fiancé, but seriously you have been doing this show for a while you should know by now that those are all possible.

Of how they take everything the senator and his wife do at face value “because they love each other so much” Really?

I enjoy this series and liked this installment. The cases are independent of those in prior books, but developments in Laurie's personal life continue through from book to book. I was glad to see growth in the character of Ryan and hope that continues.

The case was intriguing and I was very surprised at the ending.

A quick and easy read.  Found the story simple to follow and the characters enjoyable.  Would definitely go back and read more from this particular series, though I'm not a massive fan of the style of writing by MHC books written solo.

Laurie and Alex are easy enough characters to enjoy, and the relationship between them + between Laurie and her father was light and uplifting, so a pleasure to read, especially in books dealing with violence/murder/darker themes.

Nothing groundbreaking, although the killer wasn't who I thought it would be, so always enjoy a good twist.
