When the sequel series is better then the original... The book is a fairly easy read, full of adventure, history and friendship.

For the longest time I thought I hated this book because of the lack of Percy. Then I realised this is just not that great of a book.

You see, after reading Riordan's other works where Percy is hardly present or straight up not mentioned at all, it's clear as a crystal why this book suffers. Jason, Piper, and Leo are just not interesting characters. Jason's lack of memory and Piper's (almost) lack of loyalty does not help. Hurts to admit this since I was a Leo fangirl back in the day, but not even Leo could salvage the mess of this book. None of the characters had a bond between them and yet we're forced to believe they are friends/lovers.

The third person POV and the forgettable plot may have added the fuel to this dumpster fire.
