Felt a little bit too dramatic for me and would have loved an epilogue set in New York, but overall very cute

I don't know why I continue to pick up Kasie West books except for the fact that they're easy to get through. I never like the characters. The plots are interesting but fall short, and the romances just pass me by because they are either a) boring, b) so far out of left field that I've never seen the actual relationship bloom, or c) between people I don't care about.
That being said, this was not the worst one I've read of hers.

This book was a mess. I don’t even know where to start. It is incredibly annoying that Sophie was a jerk the entire book. And why…. Because she’s insecure? Because her parents are divorced? I mean come on. If I was Andrew I would have let her go early on. I would never stick around for someone that rude. Also, every time Sophie had a self-reflection of her behavior, the reason was different every time….. like the author couldn’t make up her mind. AND for Andrew’s dad to be that big of a jerk because he felt like a failure? A little too intense. Everyone was a little rude in this book and I didn’t like it. The romance was not there until the very very end and that was disappointing. Don’t waste your time on this book.

It was cute! I listened to it on audio. There were a few places where her inflection felt wrong to me, but otherwise it was pleasant to listen to. I enjoyed the growth of the characters. A fun story.

I can't get enough of this author and her books. It's such a great YA book about a friendship that slowly becomes more. Friendships that have to be worked on in order to work. I loved every second of this book. It is such a great fresh book.
