I surprisingly enjoyed this book and I am not sorry about it.

What was most ironic though was that Zade’s life purpose was to eradicate human trafficking and the skin trade and killing pedophiles yet he stalked and forced himself on a woman. Like??

The whole “saving the women and children” part honestly just felt like something to give Zade a redeeming quality while he did a lot of morally fucked up shit. However that dark aspect of the book did touch on important topics to do with corruption in power and the skin trade. Along with this, it was good to have multiple plot points at the same time that weren’t just their relationship such as Gigi’s diaries and the mystery of her death.

Booktok really did me wrong on this recommendation. I love an enemies to lovers trope as much as the next person but this was just predatory twisted and disgusting. I honestly wish I never heard of this book and I am disgusted that people find this worth recommending. I don’t even know why I finished the thing, I think I was just amazed at how truly disgusting it was. Don’t read this, it’s a romanticized view of literal r*pe and SA.

What in the Wattpad was this novel and how did this ever get published?
I have never seen a more poorly thought out novel in my entire life. I am sure most children could pull through with a story that is more logically and narratively coherent, that also wouldn't make me want to vomit after every page.
I wish it was just a matter of me finding the book vile that made me dislike it so much, but it's just.. so bad. I don't know how you managed to make a story about a woman solving her great-grandmother's murder, and a stalker/murderer/rapist working to stop human trafficking, boring, but it is apparently possible. I have no idea how I got through 583 pages of rape, stalking and downright cringy dialogue. I feel like I deserve a medal after pulling through this one, but honestly, I don't deserve it after considering the book in the first place.
Please, to all potential readers, I can only try to convey my message that you do not want to waste time on this one. Read literally anything else. I wish that device from Men in Black was real so I could delete this book from my memory, but alas..

In a definite fan of this author. I find her fmc’s to be mostly relatable, and while i don’t always agree with the mmc’s I find their pov’s to be hot.

What you have to know about this book is that the mmc is a villain, cut and dry, no if ands or buts about it. He is unapologetically a stalker, rapist and killer. Granted the people he kills are bad, but he’s only slightly better in that he doesn’t hurt children.

There was a mystery to be solved in this book and I figured it out right away, but was still very intrigued.

I had finished the prequel (satan’s affair) the day before this and I immediately started the sequel (hunting Adeline) so as you might guess I loved it, but there are very dark scenes that can be mentally taxing, and the second book only gets darker so read with caution for your mental health
