π Monster romance
π Demon romance
π Morally grey cinnamon roll vibes
π Plus size heroine
π Nigerian heroine
π Set in Nigeria
π Queer MCs
πΆ Pegging
πΆ π¦ing
πΆ Femdom vibes here and there
For a book dealing with topics such as SA, the author managed to create a delightful romance around the core topic. (Note: the rape backstory is pretty heavy, so evercise caution with the trigger warning)Seeking revenge, Joy summons a demon to assist in the "removal" of her rapist.
I love diverse romance reads anyway, but I especially loved the fact that this was set IN Nigeria and Nigerian wedding traditions were touched on slightly (I went on to look into Nigerian weddings after reading and it's so beautiful and joyful π).
The relationship between Joy and Malachi was a sweet one. When Malachi finds out the reason Joy is exacting revenge, he really puts everything into consent and waiting for permission to touch her and respect her boundaries. Yes, that should be a bare minimum, but it's not always met. Joy beginning to experience physical intimacy for the first time since her assault was delicately handled with consent and boundaries worked with.
From a physical perspective, this was π₯π₯π₯ I just dunno what it is about monster romance authors but they are just so on point when it comes to spicy scenes man, it's wild.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. The romance was great, the plot flowed well, and the pacing was just right.
