First off, it was a lot heavier than a thought. The conversations of SA were very prominent and it made the story feel a bit weird. The main character would discuss how she was SA and then get d*cked down two paragraphs later. I do like how the author have scenes where the character would say she is "claiming herself back" and I found that to be incredibly empowering and important.
I have two main problems with this story though.
One: The writing was not giving what it thought it was giving. I think the author wanted to make the story dark and gritty, but there was a lot of telling and not showing. To make it gritty and dark, the author would just throw in the word "fuck" or "fucking" and it was supposed to be this thwarting at the mouth moment. In reality, the tone of the book was not matching the dark and gritty, so it just made it annoying how every other paragraph the word fuck or fucking would be present.
Two: the plot? I thought the revenge plot would be a lot better.
The plus side, is that I am glad to have read something set outside the US or England. Like a book set in Nigeria, with Nigerian characters felt like a breath of fresh air.

with all of that being said, this is NOT a book to go blind into. pls pls pls check the cw listed below. they can also be found at the beginning of the book. the sexual assault the fmc faces before the book is an integral part to the plot and is referenced throughout as well as briefly relived on page.
⚠️: sexual assault (past event - mentions, discussions, references, and descriptions), murder, slavery, imprisonment, religious imagery, trauma, PTSD, blood drinking, violence, gore, drugging, medical content (hysterectomy in relation to debilitating fibroids)
Graphic: Gore, Rape, Sexual assault, Violence, and Murder
Moderate: Slavery and Medical content

This is Joy’s rape revenge story. She calls upon a demon and wants to offer a deal. The use of her body 👀 so that she has the power to get away with her rapists murder, more specifically make it look like he died in his sleep. Joy is completely ready to do this until the demon says no. LMAOO I KNOW MALACHI SAID NO. Joy devastated says she’ll do anything but sell her soul. How else is she supposed to enjoy life after she kills her rapist. (His name is not important because abusers are filth of the world. Moving on) Malachi offers a blood contract because even though realistically the only thing he wants is her soul, he can’t fathom the idea of just leaving her there. He is entranced by her. This hot and you fall in love with who each person is. You are rooting for joy because you’ll see how this “incident” (as she calls it) as significantly altered her life while her abuser is just going about everyday life.
