It was just so much fun to read this arc. I've gone through numerous "reboots" of Iron Man and thought I'd give one by Brian Michael Bendis a try. Entertaining storyline, but the MVP of the book is David Marquez --- energetic artwork, gives an all-new feeling to Iron Man, especially since I'm used to seeing "stiff"/photo-realistic artwork for Iron Man (e.g., Salvador Larocca, Adi Granov, etc.).

Wow, an Iron Man comic I actually really enjoyed! The dialogue in this book is what Bendis does well.

Quite fun, actually. I enjoyed how Tony was portrayed (he makes a better Tony Stark than Peter Parker does in [b:Amazing Spider-Man: Worldwide, Vol. 1|26030947|Amazing Spider-Man Worldwide, Vol. 1|Dan Slott|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1459112031s/26030947.jpg|45957205]). The whole book was a hoot and I enjoyed the antagonist (as well as
SpoilerDr. Doom
). The best part, though was Tony's interaction with the other ladies in the book, including scientist whatsername and
SpoilerMs. Watson
. I'm keen to see how both those relationships continue.

My only problem with this comic was that there was too much dialogue. It wasn't bad dialogue, but sometimes I got slightly bored with the long speeches. Otherwise this was great and I'd love to read more.

A pretty good Iron Man book. I think most of Bendis' detractors would agree he has more trouble with epic crossover books and does a pretty good job on single-character stuff. Maybe they wouldn't. I like most of his stuff, so fuck if I know.

Art is also pretty snazzy. I almost said "on point" and then thought "that doesn't sound like me." So I guess what sounds like me is a super old fuddy duddy, as evidenced by the use of "fuddy duddy."

I'm hoping to write a longer column about this in the near future, and this book is a prime example.

When are some of our newly-hyped heroes going to get a good rogues' gallery? Seriously, how many people can be Dr. Doom's arch-nemesis? Iron Man, Dr. Strange, ALL of the Fantastic Four. It's like, Get your own nemesis, Stark!

Madame Masque is okay, but she's no Joker, no Doc Ock, no Lex Luthor. Although maybe Tony Stark is more Lex Luthor. Have to think on that one...

I'm ready for a few more exciting new baddies whenever you all are.

Works great as a stand alone! Funny without being over the top and wow, I mean, I adore Pepperony, but Tony and Amara are just two adorable geniuses and how can you not love them

So. I don't like the non-RDJ Tony Stark. Never have. At all. In fact, before the movies, I barely liked Iron Man at all.

Take all of that into account when I say this was an awesome book. Pick it up, and its fun and totally worth your time.

A very fun book. Much better in my mind than the previous iteration of Iron Man (The Secret Origin or Iron Man). Fun, witty, and with a very interesting post-secret wars Doctor Doom to boot. It was also a great call to bring in Madame Masque as the main villain of this arc, I hadn't seen enough of her after the Dark Avengers/Siege storylines.

Huh. Okay story. But Doom a good guy? And MJ Watson an Iron Man extra? Not sure that's enough to make me a fan of this book. And Dr. Strange is written and drawn wrong. And in fact Tony is drawn a little off. I like his AI though. Good but not great. 3.5 of 5.
