This series has so many great moments! Each story progresses the story so much and in so many weird, unique, and yet traditional ways and I just love it and I know that if I read this as a child that this series would easily be my favorite. The way things develop to get characters where they need to be is so interesting and the drawings continue to amaze me (of course that is doubly true for the dream scenes, like holy Christ those dream scenes!!!) with a special focus on the fight in the woods, like omg the imagery was so cool! And the way Thorn cuts Kingdok's arm off was so cool and gruesome, especially for a kids book! That isn't to say that I don't like gore in kids stories, actually I love it when a kids book is willing to get a little darker to engage its readers and also show that not everything is so nice looking in real life.
Moderate: Gore and Violence
Minor: Blood and Alcohol
