The powers the dwarves are given are really dumb and there’s points where they try to make “cute” references to fairy mythology but it just comes off as really unnecessary

These books are difficult to rate as an adult. The Artemis Fowl series was a favorite of mine as a kid, so the nostalgia factor is strong. They're undeniably fun and unique books, but through the lens of an adult reader, the writing is pretty mediocre, the environmental themes are really heavy-handed, and the use of "Mud People" as a term for humans is questionable at best. I struggle to believe an editor would let that one by in 2023, but these books are 20+ years old at this point. It's not an excuse, but definitely an explanation for some of the content and the way Holly's character as the Only Female Cop is handled.

Read for Tpl’s reading challenge. This book was cute. I was definitely not the target audience but I think a kid in grade 4-6 would probably love it.

I really enjoyed the humor (for the grownups and mature students). Younger students will like the plot and the characters. Artemis Fowl comes from a long line of very successful Irish criminals and is looking to make a fortune from the "little folk.'

Enjoyable read but I just couldn't get my brain to stop comparing it to zootopia. That's on me, not the book.

This has such high reviews, I felt bad for not liking it. It's not that it was bad, it's just... strange.
