This was so predictable and boring, I just couldn’t keep going. Just not my cup of tea.

This is a difficult book to rate.
On one hand, I loved the turtle facts at the beginning of each chapter as well as the parts of the book pertaining to turtles.
The story itself was a tale as old as time. Other reviewers have commented it's been done to death, which I do agree with. It took a while to get into as well. I admit I almost gave up in the early chapters.
In summation, this novel is very sunny, has little conflict, is incredibly predictable and is overall, engaging. I didn't know this was a series and may read the second book at some point.
It was a fine beach read but I am a little flummoxed by the overly high rating this novel gets.

I enjoyed the story. I feel like it dragged on a bit and could have been maybe 50 pages shorter. That being said I will probably continue on to read the story of Lovie in the next book.
