I like a lot what we got here, but I feel like there are like 100 pages of interactions missing. Where are the long, deep, personal talks? Where's the witty banter? De discussion of insecurities, trauma, etc.?
The main characters here had both suffered in their lives, but they did not connect over it at all. They barely talked about any of it.
We got a lot of sexual tension, and I totally get Nate asking Marian to be his mistress - but his wife? No.
They were clearly attracted to each other and liked each other quite a lot, but there was no reason (or time, or sincere interactions) for it to become love.
So yeah, 3 stars because I had a great time reading it, but no more because I don't believe the romance.

This was fine. I really wish that there was a better build up to the sex, more resisting temptation on Marian part. Marian giving in that easily just feels out of character for someone who has been so pragmatic.
The smut was fine. Nothing particularly memorable.
This is just a paint by numbers historical romance.

All of these books have a crazy premise and this was no exception. I did find it a bit hard to connect the Marion from book 4 with this Marion - but perhaps a year down a hard road and that's to be expected. Great again. Candy, I say.

Didn’t love the hero of this one. His misogyny lasted a bit too long for my tastes. I know it’s regency. But I read these because the heroes and heroines go against the grain of their time.
But it wasn’t bad overall. 3 neutral to like stars.
