I feel like this was between a 3 or 4 for me. I enjoyed it it’s just I wouldn’t want to give it a 4 but then again 3 just seems too low. So it’s a 3.5 rounded up to a 4 for me.

I just read stone Princess by Deveny Perry and, this book was just too similar to it. Both the male leads come to a small town to find meaning in their chaotic Hollywood life, and both the female leads had a painful past. I think cause I already read a book so much similar to it, I didn’t find anything interesting, it just seems like shitty timing, so probably not the books fault.

I liked Laiken, she overcame so much and pushed herself everyday to be better, if she was a real person I could see myself befriending her. Boden was such a sweet guy, he knew he wanted to be with Laiken and he made serious efforts. I loved his relationship with his dad. Only thing that felt out of place was the situation at the end, but I feel like the author did it justice, it just seemed unnecessary to me.

Am I lame for giving every Catherine Cowles book I have read a 5 stars? Well, I don't care!! She has the formula to give me everything I want in a book! Laiken, with her pain, both physical and emotional. And Boden, heart of gold movie star with fixing as his love language!
My 2 erks (which weren't erky enough to give this book anything less than 5 stars), I wish we saw more of Laiken's art, and the epilogue is so similar to Hidden waters. But it is so well done that I can't hate it.
I genuinely don't know how Catherine Cowles hides the villain so well!!! Every time I think I know who it is, I am wrong! Seriously, I'm 0 for 7 right now.

Author Catherine Cowles continues to both break me and lift me up with the books in her Tattered & Torn series. SHATTERED SEA, the fourth book in the series, is a testament to Catherine's ability to craft a story that evokes emotion that is both painful and beautiful.

Having met Laiken in the earlier books of the series, paired with the fact that every single story has blown me away, I was certain that I would love SHATTERED SEA, and I was not wrong. Both Laiken and Boden have great back stories, ones that have made them the strong people that they are because of the pain that they've suffered. They see something in each other, that something that draws them together despite any reservations that they may have.

Each book in the Tattered & Torn series makes me fall more in love with Catherine's writing, with her skills as a storyteller, and with a place and its people. I absolutely cannot wait for FRACTURED SKY, Shiloh's and Ramsey's story, because the build to see Shiloh get her HEA has been tremendous. I can honestly say that this is one of my top series ever, and wish that every single fan of angsty suspenseful romance would snap these books up and binge them. They are amazing, and you will love them. ❤️
