I have read lots of other Edward Marston books and really enjoyed them. I particularly like the period of time this is set in and it's a cracking good read too. I shall definitely be reading the next in the series.

wow I have always wanted to read this series ever since I picked up another of the author's works ( The Railway Detective series.. thats another brilliant series if you need a recommendation) and oh boy does it hold up. It actually exceeds what I thought it would be like. Some of the writing style feels different and there are parts where it feels a bit off especially when certain characters are talking to each other but don't let that stop you from reading this delightful novel. I have always been on the look out for another Cadfael like series and I feel that this is just what I have been looking for.
Edward Marston is master at his craft and I love it.

like this mystery thriller based in Wiltshire in the times of the domesday book where a miller has been killed by a wolf and the plot and sub plot is about what lies in this old saxon town and is a easy fast paced story and doesn't disappoint
