Honestly to say I’m surprised is an understatement. But this book exceeded all of my expectations.
Going into it while in my twenties, I didn’t have a high hopes, I just wanted to read the books before the show was out. But I think this one might be one of my fav reads of the year if not all time.
It is a story that’s will grip you until you reach the last page and go directly into the next book. From humor to saddness to full packed action fights, it have it all.
And not mention that while some the plot twists were easy to predict, others did blow my mind.
Overall this was such a fun experience and I had blast reading this book. Cannot wait to continue the rest of the series.
( I didn’t give it a five star as you can see , and that’s because I felt some descriptions regarding some of the characters were a little bit …….. I don’t how to describe it honestly but maybe a little hurtful? Though I tried to keep in mind that this was a childern book written more than a decade ago and that how all the books were.
and not mention the lack of diversity in characters but with new adaptation I went ahead and imagined the new cast as the characters )
(P.s  If anyone read all of this ….. thanks 😂 and please excuse any errors you might find 💀)

I'm rereading this series from the start because House of Hades is out
Spoilerand my favorite character is queer!!!!!
so I need to remember everything that's happened so far! I busted through these books a few years ago and loved them to death, but this time around, I love them even more fiercely. My opinions on certain characters have changed much for the better and I'm noticing a lot more details this time. My interpretation of the story has advanced and I'm so excited to keep reading, because PJO has honestly become so, so incredibly important to me -- in my 20s, which seems silly, but it's true.

The Lightning Thief is super fast-paced and it introduces this world so perfectly. The exposition isn't heavy enough that it's boring, instead intertwined with action and character development and mysterious elements that work so well together. I have a great amount of respect for Rick Riordan's writing, and what his writing has done for young people and increasing their interest in books. Rereading this book has reminded me of why -- it's funny, well crafted, and just downright good.

Read it when it first came out in 2005, and was hooked. Upon reading it aloud to my daughters, find it still rocks.
