DNF @ 45%

I was gravely disappointed. It is not the first time I read something dark by Ms. Winters. I liked her Tears of Tess. I liked Q and Tess. Seeing them develop as characters and also their love for each other progress, it actually made me feel giddy. I thought that it was the perfect combination of crazy insane dark angst and sex. And I was genuinely happy that they found each other.

But this. This book was awful for me. I was rolling my eyes almost on every page and I didn’t like Jethro at all. No, that’s an understatement. I loathe him. It’s not even funny. There are scary hot controlling borderline asshole guys out there that could still manage to pull of sexy. This guy? Pffft. He brings out a new definition of asshole. Sans the sexiness. And it isn’t that he’s not handsome at all, he is, actually. But if I were to balance the scales between his sexiness and his attitude? It’s not worth it to put up with his douche bag self.
And don’t tell me that I have no business here since I couldn’t handle dark dysfunctional romance stories. I could. This one was just so bad I can’t finish it without throwing my lamp across my room.

Wow. *claps* I wanted to strangle every character here.

Also, this story reminded me of Madeleine, Abducted by M.S. Willis. (And you thought Jethro was cruel? Wait until you meet Aaron fucking Carmichael, you’re gonna be nauseated literally.)

I love me some Pepper Winters....maybe I just wasn't into her dark style when I picked this book up (but that's crazy because I love her dark reads)...but I just wasn't getting into it. Made it half way. I enjoyed the characters but just couldn't get into the storyline. Maybe I'll try again another time.

Nila Weaver is a fashion designer who has been sheltered from the world severely by her father and twin brother. The night of her show, however - a stranger shows up and escorts her away from everything she's ever known. She is thrust into a new world where she is owned, a plaything, to Jethro Hawk and his entire family of sadistic psychos who make her pay back a 600 year old debt that her ancestors owe theirs. The Weavers treated the Hawks terribly in the 1400s and the Hawks get to take the first born female Weaver from every generation in perpetuity to use - and make pay back the debts, collared in a diamond collar that can only be removed with the final debt, her beheading, is paid.

A really interesting read love the storyline, and look forward to more the only reason it wasn't a 5 was there is a cliffy and I'm not huge fan of those.

Wow. So I didn't read any reviews or even the description of this. I saw the cover everywhere on goodreads and Facebook and decided if everyone liked it it had to be good. I was a little put off by the contents, but at the same time, it was 100% different to most books that are popular. I like dark reads, and while this wasn't exactly DARK it is clearly leading to something that way. The ending excited me, I like when characters play 'games' as it makes it some kind of primitive thrill of the hunt. I don't doubt he will catch her, but whether she can make him feel or not is the question I most want to reveal the answer to...

Debt Inheritsnce. Where do I even start with this?

I guess the reason I picked it up is a good start. I was attracted to this book for one specific reason: Kylie C Stewart. She is my all time favorite narrator. I just absolutely love her voice and her performances are always amazing. This book was no exception, and if I was rating solely on that, it would be 5/5 stars. However the rating I gave was for the content of the book, which I did not enjoy at all.

The plot was obhorrent. It was full of graphic and disguissting noncon (aka r@pe), as well as many other grotesque themes like torture, kidnapping, assault, roofies, and many more terrible ‘plot lines’.

The main male character is an evil phycopath and so is his whole family. I see people hating on the main female character in other reviews, but honestly any criticism I might have had for her goes out the window considering she is the victim of all these heinous crimes.

I read some spoilers for the rest of the series so if you don’t wanna see that don’t read any further, but apparently the two of the fall in love or whatever, and I guess he doesn’t kill her after he is done r@ping her and keeping her prisoner for an indefinite period of time. A real happily ever after. They save each other…. Which is rich considering the only thing she needed saving from was HIM!

I am clearly not the target audience for this book. I am not meaning to send any hate to anyone who enjoys the series. Heck I know I enjoy so weird/indulgent books that other people could think I’m crazy for liking. I am just giving my honest opinion on a book that I did not enjoy.

My inital rating was 4* but after having finished it a few days ago and thinking about it. No. Absolutely no.
1* for annoying Nila and the MC.
Another 1* just because I did read all the books in a few days. But it made me just more angry.

I am angry at this series. I feel like it keeps teasing me to continue but doesn't deliver what it promised.

I rarely hate a main character as much as I hate Nila. The women has no self preservation. None at all.
She comes across as utterly entitled and really really stupid. And it gets worse in the following books.
Her demanding behaviour isn't cute or strong. Its destructive. Given her tormentors are rather stupid as well. I just don't get why they just wouldn't gag her when she keeps interrupting, demanding stuff and asking questions over questions.
And I feel like I am a bad person to want the victim gagged.

Can we talk about the motorcycle club part? Why? Why do we have a british billionar family living in gigantic mansion.. being in a MC? Why?
Isn't enough to give them a diamon empire and shit ton of money? What role does the MC play? You can just have loyal employees.. ? No?
Why...
What MC guy plays polo??
