this book was raw. it felt so real - the attention to detail makes the characters feel like actual people, not words on paper. this series surprised me in ways i didn’t expect it to.

I really liked this. my thoughts are very similar to the first book tbh.

I still can't stand Belly's friend Taylor and I still think I'm team Conrad even tho I love Jeremiah too. but as always Conrad did piss me off again sometimes (especially in the beginning, like, the prom thing..... hell no.... I was this🤏🏼 close to switching sides LMAO)

also, I loved finding out about Conrad loving Belly's mom as much as Belly loved Susannah.

this feels like a comfort series.

Although this book wasn’t terrible, the show is DEFINITELY better. BEWARE: Jenny Han uses the word “gonna” in this series!! ⚠️⚠️⚠️

I found this book more engaging than the last one. Woo-wee, is Belly a mess lol. But I did like the complicated parent relationship and the humanizing look at the parents, which continues from the first book. Parents grieve and cope like anyone else, and sometimes that can come at the expense of their other relationships. I do think that Conrad is a little too ~unknowable~ for me. Like he's broody and whatever, but why the whole prom mishap? Although it was super weird of
Belly to just take the necklace that she assumed was for her. Super weird.
If this was an A24 film, everyone would be headed for an orgy, but I'm assuming that's not going to happen lol

The second book in this series is a solid, middle of the road, likeable book. The story felt a little bit contrived, and I will admit that the relationship switches did start to get on my nerves a little bit. But again, Jenny Han writes very realistic teenagers. Will finish the series for sure, especially after the crazy "preview" at the end of my version.
