Following protagonist Katie's journal entries as she settles into a new town, Greenloop, I felt connected to her from the start. Brook's characterisation is phenomenal, with each POV feeling distinct and original.

This story is often compared to World War Z, and appears to take a lot of flack for not living up to the zombie survival epic. While I personally enjoy a good zombie story over one about Big Foot, this story is thoroughly chilling and thrilling in its own right, and well worth a read.

Once you get into it, it's hard to put this fun horror down. Great build-up, a unique setting, and epistolary storytelling make for a satisfying tale.

This book is a mix of Disney Channel's Smart House, the Martian, and The Adventure Zone: Amnesty

Nobody had a personality except for Dan in the second half of the book, but I liked seeing how they tried to survive.

The writing was great, the characters were great (and very reminiscent of the classic horror trope of, "being stupid," which I do enjoy when used well!), and I loved the story. It honestly did have me freaked out at times.
