TERMINAL FREEZE wasn't as exciting as the first book in this series of standalones connected by a single minor character. I liked the setting and the the concept was interesting, but this felt less sci-fi than the previous book. There was a lot of horror with a lot of horror-movie type chase scenes and gore, and then there was maybe a supernatural angle over science fiction as well.

I also just really didn't connect to any of the characters here. I had a hard time with this cast, for some reason, and everyone kind of blended together. I think I wanted more people who were actively involved in investigating, maybe? The film crew didn't do it for me, and that really never does in any book where they're filming some sort of documentary.

This is a fun series that I've been incorporating when I don't know what to read and I like having it on the back burner for that reason. I love Scott Brick, who narrates the audiobooks, so it's an easy and pleasant listen as well.

Got to the end of the first disc and decided I just didn't care what happened to these people, and that it was probably just that they'd take the creature out of the ice, it would hunt them down, and then the main guy and probably the attractive lady would survive and all this would take ten hours and I just didn't feel like going through it. Even if it does mix things up, I just didn't like any of the characters enough to put up with them, nor hate them enough to want to see them killed.

I have “seen this movie” before. Never before seen terrifying monster in a remote mostly abandoned army outpost terrifies and kills unsuspecting inhabitants. Your usual suspects are there and are “picked off” one by one almost according to their selfish, self-centered, annoying character. Ho hum. Not sure how the Jeremy Logan #2 comes into play as he was a character that seemed completely misplaced. His arrivial to the outpost really made no sense and he had no real impact on the outcome. Oddly done.

This was an OK book. I did not find it particularly suspensful or frightening. I'm not sure why there were so many characters introduced in the book, since they really didn't seem to go anywhere or have much to do with the actual story.

I'm glad that it was a library book that I can promptly return. I suspect that I will not be remembering much of this story after a few days.
