This book provides lots of insight into navigating the entertainment industry — complete with the misogyny that bleeds throughout every audition and interaction. She is honest about who was a jerk, who mansplained everything, and who refused to have her back when she had theirs. Chad Michael Murray is probably the only male actor mentioned in the book who has a somewhat of a redemption arc.
Busy Philipps is endearing as she narrates the audiobook. Her teenage years are particularly resonant. This is a memoir a woman finding her way and claiming her voice — especially when it was hard or uncomfortable, and it’s always useful to have more empowering examples like this. Worth the audiobook listen!
