A thoroughly enjoyable read, loved the characters and POV hopping done well is one of my favorites. As always, Moyes' characters are quirky and fun and you can't help but root for them. A bit slow at times, and the justification that Gem gave Ed about Jess taking the money actually being OK was a bit wonky. I would have preferred she stick with her argument that desperation is tough and second chances are necessary sometimes. Her point about "everyone steals sometimes" was where she lost me I think. Also it was a bit difficult trying to figure out when the setting was, seemed to be a mix of technology from the 90's to the late 00's but I think that might be me being nitpicky. I did really enjoy that it was mostly set in a car/during a road trip. It never felt boring or limited because of the setting and I thought that was really unique and well done. All in all I will keep an eye out for whatever else Moyes puts out.

Moyes once again proving that I will read, and enjoy, anything she writes. Great characters with realistic lives, flaws, reactions, and all with great depth. A plot that, at its heart, is really quite simple (four people, one car, and am expected journey) but is also so much more. Where every character grows in their own right, and the denouement comes about by natural means. Loved it.

One Plus One by Jojo Moyes was my second book of 2023 and I couldn't be happier. I think choosing to enjoy this story as an audiobook was a great decision. I don't think I would've enjoyed it as much as I did if I only read it.
For starters, this audiobook is narrated by four different people as there are four POV's presented in the book. It was such a pleasant surprise to realize it. The four narrators did such an amazing job, I feel like this brought the story to life. It almost felt like I was watching a movie, and I can definitely see this story have the potential to be a great film.
The story is captivating, hilarious, romantic and comforting. It was such a fun read, getting to know this characters with their struggles. I felt everything they felt, their anger, sadness, frustration, happiness, every single thing!
I do have to admit the book has a slow pacing at the beginning, it took me some time to get the gist of it, honestly, but once I understood every character and the plot in general, the experience felt so much better.
I loved each relationship of this book. The differences between Jess and Ed made you think there was no way they could work together. I mean, they came from totally differenr worlds, had opposite mindsets and a ton of problems to deal with, but they blended so well! I really enjoyed how their relationship developed in a few days, having to spend a lot of hours in a space as small as a car, they got to know each other so well. I also adored how they helped and supported each other through complicated situations they had to faced.
Now, moving to Jess and her kids. Such a cute family! Honestly, I love how Moyes didn't focus the book entirely on the adults, but also gave the kids good storylines, development and character. Tanzie was such a cute kid to listen to, her innocence well portrayed in the chapters she narrated.
Nicky, on the other hand, was a shy, reserved and reticent teenager who was getting bullied at school. I think Moyes did such a good job of showing the differences between the mindset of adults, kids and teenagers. There were occasions in which a situation was told from one perspective and then again in the next chapter from other, and it didn't felt repetitive, because each point of view brought something different but essential to the story.
I can't express enough how much I loved this story. I got sad once I realized I finished it, because I couldn't get enough of these characters! I truly recommend this book to people who enjoy listening to audiobook and are in the mood for a chaotic, hilarious and amazing story of a family trying to navigate through life's challenges.
