This was an easy read (I finished it in a couple of hours), so it was written well enough to keep me interested in the outcome and it moved smoothly enough, though sometimes shorter chapters threw me off as to who was speaking, but whatever. What I didn't enjoy about this book, or the previous book, for that matter, was the romance aspect of it. I mean, SPOILER: how could Indie fall in love with Xander without ever meeting him? That's not love, Ally, that's lust/wishful thinking. And how did Cassia fall in love with Ky? Such a profound, deep love that would get her to risk everything in order to find him again? And, while we're at it, there's a bit of a large plot hole where Cassia is not reclassified as Aberrant. Granted, there have been hints that the Society is cracking, but still. And...why do all these dystopian novels need to have a Rebellion that's possibly just as bad as the Society it's rebelling against? I yearn for stories like Star Wars. Where there's the bad guys, and the good guys. That all said, I am still curious how everything will end up. Though I'm gearing up for bitter disappointment (in order to up my chances of actually enjoying it.). To summarize: writing is fine, characters were not as interesting as the first book (with the exception of Vick, and Hunter), and the story was eh.

Book #1 of this series sucked me in with a pretty writing style (despite a fairly ho-hum dystopian YA setting). At first, the focus on forbidden poetry was cute and romantic.
Matched, however, lost me completely. The poetry focus grew too intense for the story - it was irritating, unrealistic, and felt grossly mismatched with a dystopian setting. Plot felt aimless. Abandoned this series for good.

I couldn't get enough of this book! Wow! I know some people had mixed reviews which made me unsure about reading it but I LOVED IT! The plot development was very rich and not predictable. The characters from the first book are further developed and you begin to learn secrets that Ky and Xander both share. Some commented on the amount of poetry in this book. Honestly, it isn't overwhelming. You have to remember that a huge focus of the book is that old writing (books and poems) were destroyed by The Society so when they come across poems, or create their own it's something that enjoy focusing on. With that being said poetry also fits perfect into the romance of Ky and Cassia.
Enjoy!

It has many poems throughout which can be boring.

I wanted this book to be as good as the first one, and probably a little bit better even. I think I set my standards a little high (I have been ever since I finished the Hunger Games). There were definitely parts that made me smile, and really think, but the whole book was a bit..... boring. I still plan on finishing the series, whenever the third one comes out, and I hope I'm happy with the overall series when I do.
