I don't like the Darquesse arc and then suddenly Val is cheating? For why? Just 'cause he's hot? So stupid and now there's nothing I like about her character. I wanted to read about a badass teen with superpowers not about a teen turning into a villain.

This was my favorite Skulduggery book as a kid and I still do love it but as this is like my 6th time rereading it I’ve begun to notice problems that I didn’t ever recognise on previous reads. It sucks but it is a thing that happens to all media under loads of repeat consumption, it does signify however just how much I do like this one if I am willing to reread it this much. Also Caelan once again sucks

This is one of the only books to have ever pulled the wool over my eyes with a plot twist so thoroughly. I still remember where I was when I read it and how I felt. This book might not be objectively a 5/5 but I will always remember it first and foremost for that. Still my absolute favourite of the series.

I enjoyed the overall plot and the multiple twists. I think the twists were done really well. However, by about page 300 the blow by blow fights had gotten excessive. Maybe it’s that I’m no longer the target audience for this book in which case that’s on me. It does still affect my enjoyment of the book though. Overall I’m loving where the series is going, and how it’s going there.
