Second best book I’ve read this year! Phew! That was amazing. Easily the most romantic murder mystery I’ve ever read.

I’m sad to DNF this because I actually really loved the writing. This book had me cackling within 10 minutes and the flow is SO GOOD. However, the age gap emphasis is too much for me and I wanted a romcom not a murder mystery. 35 and 28/29 is normal. 23/17 is not okay and while the 23 yo guy was not the pursuer, this still gave me the ick. OH And the flash backs to when they were 14/9? NO. Also, Juniper was fine until a certain point and then she just comes across as extremely immature and I hated being in her brain.

ALSO, I find it weird that this is a CLEAN ROMANCE (not just closed door) but murder is totally fine and casual to include. Dead body? ABSOLUTELY FINE. Cussing? NONE ALLOWED. CUSSING IS BAD.

The FMC actually said “what the cuss?!” at one point and that’s when I knew this would be a DNF.

Do you believe in fate? Well, something has brought these two people together time and time again, and now they are roommates and found a dead body. The police can’t find a corpse, so it’s up to Aiden and Juniper to figure out what happened.

This was a heavier cozy murder. The banter between the two main characters was funny but repetitive at times. I liked that Juniper is a writer and didn’t funny “research” for her book. If you are going into this booking for the romance aspect, it takes the backseat most of the story. Look of trigger warnings before reading.

This one took a minute for me to fully get into, but once I did I was hooked!

✨ 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 ✨ B̷O̷R̷R̷O̷W̷ B̷Y̷P̷A̷S̷S̷

If you liked Finlay Donovan is Killing It but struggled *just the tiniest bit* at suspending your disbelief at some of the hijinks Finlay got herself into (especially as the series progressed), I would highly recommend this book!

It's not a perfect novel (her entire career as a writer, while mentioned often, just seems to hover in the background?) but if you're looking to turn off your brain and get lost in a mix between (slightly heavier) cozy mystery + romance, then this is a solid book to check out.

I surprised myself by liking the romance more than I thought I was going to initially (some of the protests for how long things took to come together annoyed me in the beginning) and I thought everything wrapped up quite nicely at the end!

If there was a sequel featuring these characters again, I would most definitely read it. It didn't end on a cliffhanger in any way (and I don't know if a sequel is planned), but there are so many opportunities to expand these characters!
