When I received Map of Fates by Maggie Hall I immediately realized I still needed to read The Conspiracy of Us and it was for no other reason than the fact that I just hadn’t gotten to it. I honestly have no idea why I waited so long to start this series as it has non-stop action and intrigue…all stuff I love.

Map of Fates picks up where The Conspiracy of Us left off. Avery has figured out what she is supposed to be destined for and how she fits into the Circle but she isn’t prepared to just do whatever her family wants her to. I loved that at this point she is still growing into her new role and we get to see her change over the course of this book (even more so than she did in book one). As she learns who she can trust and who she can’t she isn’t someone who will just take things at face value by the end of this book and unfortunately it is because she has been burned over and over by these people.

As Avery jumps around the world with Jack, Stellan, and the rest of the crew, she is looking to solve the bigger mystery not only to save her mother but to also protect herself. What I loved about what Hall did with this book was that she took us around the world right with Avery. We got to run through museums and hang out on a boat in Cannes right alongside her. I thought Hall did a fantastic job of creating the environment around her so that it felt like I was there too.

I admit, I am officially in the Jack camp and I was absolutely waiting for the shoe to drop throughout this entire book. There is no question here that Avery has feelings for both guys (at least no question to me) and it was pretty obvious that things were not going to be as easy for Avery in the relationship department as I was hoping.

Regarding secondary characters – I thought bringing Avery’s family into the mix the way she did was great. I know that is vague…sorry, not sorry. I don’t want to give anything away around the “family” dynamics here. Just know that while Avery is traveling around to meet all these Circle heirs, she is not out of danger.

This was a great book two and the story definitely moved forward. It was great to dive into this series and read books one and two back to back because I rarely get the opportunity to read series books back to back. It was a nice change of pace to not have to wait for the next book but now…I have to wait for book three. Oh well – I can have a bit of patience.

If you are looking for a book that will take you on a wild ride and have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what is going to happen next, definitely consider checking this one out. I enjoyed it (both books actually) and am definitely looking forward to the next book.

Thank you to the publisher for the review copy!

This book and series in general are amazing the fact that I can visualize what the characters are doing and the places they visit. I would seriously recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and some fun romance. The characters spring from the pages meaning this book is very well written. Thanks for a great book and series, Maggie Hall! Keep writing!

I really enjoyed this sequel to A Conspiracy of Us. Avery’s quest is really getting important, and critical, now.

Avery, the fated girl with purple eyes, doesn’t have long to find the lost tomb of Alexander the Great. The Order gives her two weeks until they kill her mother. Her family, the Saxons, give her two weeks to choose of to the heirs of the twelve families before they marry her off to, basically, the highest bidder.

Jack, loyal Saxon Keeper, will do whatever is necessary to help Avery. He only wants to help her. He only wants to keep her safe, no matter the cost. However, his duty to the Saxon family may make that a bit more difficult than anticipated.

Stellan, one of the last descendants of Alexander the Great, is employed as a Keeper for the Dauphin family. He, necessarily, has to be a part of Avery’s search. He also has his own reasons for needing to find the tomb of his ancestor. He needs to keep Avery safe and assist in this search if he wants to keep his sister safe.

Avery’s quest takes her all around the world: France, London, India, the Middle East, Italy, and Greece. While searching for clues, Avery has to come to terms with what her destiny may be, her role in the Circle. I enjoyed following Avery’s search across the globe, her deepening and changing relationships with her two protectors, and the truths she is learning about the Circle and the Order.

I am so glad I was able to read this wonderful book. The ending wasn’t what I was expecting but it was rather amazing. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Avery learns that family is determined by more than blood alone and that she is glad of that fact.

She is still trying to determine her feelings for Jack, while growing more fascinated by Stellan against her will.

I think Avery needs to work on herself before making a decision as she is looking too hard for acceptance. While it appears she has become something more in the final pages of the book, I'm not convinced that is who she should remain. I expect more growth from her in the third book.

It will be most beneficial to readers to read The Conspiracy of Us first. It's been a year or more since I read it and I had forgotten some of the events and characters. Hall doesn' spend a lot of time recapping past events, so it is better to read the books in order.

I can definitely see how a team Jack and team Stellan could form through the teen readers.

I really liked this. It was a little bit better than the conspiracy of us and I thought the characters got way more interesting. And I am even more convinced that Stellan is far superior to Jack. I'm so excited to start the last book but I have to be responsible and read my previous loans from Libby😭
