This is now a true classic. I loved it when I read it many years ago and I hear it holds up well. Though it is written from a Western, sometimes problematic lens as you may expect (1970s!), it’s still a great peek into a *fictional*, historical Japan . It’s a total epic journey with plenty of intrigue, adventure, relationships in a far away, long ago setting. if you love those kinds of books in general then this will probably end up being one of your favorites. Worth the time for you!
* I do wonder if it is a much harder read now with all the modern distractions and our shortened attention spans. Give it a try.
