it was a problematic romance. i wanted to like it so much as bennett had been my favorite sibling of the family. i didn’t like how main characters fell in love and how their marriage ended up in ultimatum for fmc: she had to leave her agency.

from the start when we didn’t know who hannah was working for, i was furious as i thought that hannah wasn’t the infiltrator reeve employed in the previous book. hadn’t everyone learned from their mistakes? why hadn’t they screened her properly? especially with the soon release of deboque. this made me dislike hannah instantly. but then we saw her with reeve… i had to rethink my opinion of her.

nevertheless i wished bennett ended up with eve in the second book. their romance would’ve been so fun to read about. hannah was more suited for alex. she too felt superior to everyone else. she was acting and bennett was falling in love with a farce.

their first time together was ugly. before main characters had sex for the first time, this was said:

“She prepared to do battle, for herself and for him. "You won't rape me."
"No, I won't. But I will have you.”

I liked the story and Hannah as the female lead, but there were parts for Bennett that just seemed so aggressive and out of character for him compared to the other books. Overall a good ending to the trilogy

This is the second series I have read from Nora Roberts and I have equally loved them both. They aren't perfect and there's a few moments that date them a bit but if you want a good old fashioned romance this series is perfect.

I enjoyed this story about Bennet and Hannah. I liked the characters with Hannah pretending to be plain and hide to help the family. However she attracts Bennet, I loved reading how Hannah tried to resist the attraction. I found myself hooked with what the truth was about Hannah and whether they could bring an end to Deboque. It was a good story but didn't enjoy it as much as the other books. Still a good read though, that I would recommend. xxx
