Tu mano gyvenimo saulė by Julia Quinn

This book started off so strong! Snappy, fun banter between the two main characters that felt very Gilmore Girls-esq. But as it went on, my issue was with the plot - lots of issues are coming up around the manor and being blamed on Ellie, the heroine, so the staff and her husband distrust her. And then the fourth act conflict is outrageous and out of left field.

It’s Time for a little confession: I love this book. There is nothing like snuggling up with a blanket, a cup of tea and a really good novel on a rainy day, don’t you agree? Brighter Than The Sun serves this purpose perfectly. It’s a light, bright and (coincidentally) sunny read. Even better, it’s sure to cheer you up when the weather is grim, and really, what more could you ask for? This is the first book I read by Julia Quinn and before I started it, I don’t mind admitting I was a little sceptical. I’m very picky when it comes to historical fiction as it’s so easy to get it horribly wrong but Quinn avoids this. The reason is that Eleanor is so engaging (http://wp.me/p31aol-D)

This book was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! The plot was humorous and the writing style was unique from the other books that I have ever read. I had been putting this book off for so long and am so glad that I finally got the courage to read it. I was laughing at every page and the characters' affection and love was really substantial.
Ellie and Charles were forced to marry due to their individual circumstances. Ellie was forced to marry to avoid her odious step-mother from picking a repulsive husband for her. Charles was forced to marry to gain an inheritance. So far it's your run-of-the-mill story, but with Julia Quinn's talent for turning your average plot into a laughing and light story is phenomenal. The trouble they soon encounter is from a female who does not accept that her crush is married.

Not Julia's best, but it is such a fun quick read!

When Charles Wycombe, the dashing and incorrigible Earl of Billington, toppled out of a tree and landed at Ellie Lyndon‘s feet, neither suspected that such an inauspicious meeting would lead to marriage. But Charles must find a bride before his thirtieth birthday or he’ll lose his fortune. And Ellie needs a husband or her father’s odious fiancée will choose one for her. And so they agree to wed.

But will the marriage of convenience ever lead to love? Especially when it seems someone does not want that to happen.

.

Okay. I definitely enjoyed this one more than the previous book. There was no instalove in this one. Nor miscommunication trope and for that, I thank the author.

Both characters had chemistry from the moment they met and I loved the witty banter between the two of them. The plot was easier to digest as well, but there was also still a lot of arguing between characters. And it seemed to be about the same subjects each argument.

I felt that Ellie was undermined a lot, despite proving her intelligect and worth many times. Every character brushed her off. It made it difficult to like Charles in these moments.

But Charles is also a sweet character who is very family oriented.

Ellie refuses to consummate the marriage until she is better acquainted with him and Charles agrees so long as he is allowed to seduce her. So there are some spicy scene's but nothing intimate happens until near the end of the book.

Overall, I enjoyed the characters, the banter, and the story. The constant arguments and undermining each other could have been avoided as frequently.

I'd probably give this a 3.5/5 stars

I admit it, it's silly - but for anyone who likes regency romance it's a completely charming, very light and easy read. Good for travelling.

Simply too ridiculous for words.

The hero and heroine have absolutely no chemistry, constantly bicker over nothing and suffer one accident after another - you can't even blame all of them on the villain.

Hoping the Bevelstoke series will be better.
