I really enjoyed this book. The writing itself is good but not quite as good as I found it to be in Fire Season (which is reasonable, as this is an earlier work), but I think the depth of the story and characters make up for that small gap. Excited to check out the other book in the series when I’m able. I’m very picky about my romances but KD Casey hits that sweet spot for me & I haven’t been let down by their work yet.

The romance was lovely and the characters felt really real and thoughtful. Their fears and joys made sense and it did a great job making complicated parts of baseball more understandable to those who might not follow it. The angst was spectacular and the ending was worth the wait! I loved how each character had complex identities and came from very different backgrounds and could still come together in these ways!
