I think this book is the 1970s equivalent of a vanity press publication. Cute story but barely a "book." Hard to tell who the audience is (maybe the couple's friends and neighbors - even the ONE review on Amazon was a referral from the author's family!) or why it had to be told by someone other than the couple it happened to (different author) or why so many details are left out. At any rate, the story retells the classic city-folk-moving-to-suburbs-and-being-enamored-of-th-wildlife-in-their-backyard tale. The goose plays a minor role in the overall story although it SHOULD be the focus. There is a whole lot of build-up to get to the goose (ha, ha)- and then it's over. Surely there was more of a story there? Maybe middle-grade readers would enjoy if they can get past some of the filler about how famous and important the main character's job is. It is illustrated.
