So. This is it. The end of the Blood of Eden series. Wow. What an impeccable ride that was! This book was by far the best ending of any series, so much angst and struggle between all of the characters. The book picks up where Allison, Jackal and Kanin are searching for Zeke and Sarren. A huge surprise happens and hits us with a ton of bricks. Like damn, poor Allison hasn't had a single break. Allison, like in the last book, seems to be even more ruthless with killing and is even stronger. She doesn't stop to get back the boy she loves, kill Sarren and the disease once and for all. Just like the synopsis stated, the final hunt is on, and Sarren better run from Allison's wielding katana.

Jackal still cracks me up in this book, and he never ceases to surprise me. He shows a more compassionate side in this, NOT TO GET CONFUSED: He isn't nice, he isn't caring, he IS however an asshole and he definitely doesn't care if Allison, Zeke or even Kanin dies, but he DOES try to save Allison in some parts. He does surprise us at the end as well, and it was a pleasant surprise indeed. Whenever it comes to Jackal, I feel like it is my duty to share a quote because he's just way too funny, so here it is:

"Oh, isn't that sweet," came Jackal's loud, mocking voice... "Let's make goo-goo eyes at each other in the middle of a stinking corpse field, how very romantic."

The ending was so fast coming and I was not ready for that. Something happens that I still can't comprehend why it had to happen. WHY KAGAWA WHY. I remember crying and crying through the end till the last page. Kagawa definitely knows how to write a friggan great and dramatic finale. Don't expect to be happy at the end as well, even though I don't know how anyone could be, considering this amazing world is coming to a close.

Stakes are high, Eden is about to become infected, heartbreaking decisions are made, and sacrifices will happen to save humanity and vampires together.

This will be missed. Goodbye Allison. Goodbye Kanin. Goodbye Jackal. Goodbye Zeke and finally, Goodbye Blood of Eden.

IF you liked this review, check out more of the series I did on my blog, as well as other YA reviews.

Allison Sekemoto has been though a lot in the past year. From being a Fringer, always hungry and scared of being caught, to being Turned, because her only options were Vampireism or death. Allie has also lost the boy who saw her as more than just a monster but as someone worthy of love. With an evil and psychotic Sarren on the loose, Allie along with blood brother Jackal and Master Vampire Kanin have to stop him before he releases a virus which ends the world as we know it.

The Forever Song is the final book in the Blood of Eden series and one I’ve been waiting on for a while. I’ve come to really enjoy Ms. Kagawa’s characters and had high expectations for just how this series was going to come to an end.

After the events in The Eternity Cure, Allie has had enough. Trying to be a vampire Kanin’s way just isn’t working and her heart just can’t take being broken any further. Embracing the cold vampire monster inside seems to be working out well for Jackal and it would certainly save Allie from having to feel how she does at the moment. I like how much Allie has grown since the start of the series. She’s always been street-smart but she’s not invincible despite her vampireism. She is strong yet fragile, caring yet maintains the ability to be clinically detached when she has to. She does at times let her heart reign over her brain but that ability to not be ruled by logic is what sets Allie apart from other vampires. That said, there were times when I felt she was a little to angsty and I never believed Allie would let her personal problems over shadow the big picture.

Allie, Jackal and Kanin make an odd little group but they work well together. Kanin the father who has grown weary after having to listen to his children squabble with the other two needing someone to argue with either for entertainment purposes or so they don’t dwell on just how much of a suicide mission they are on. They definitely put the “fun” in “dysfunctional” but they are a family, not from birth but their blood connects them. The three being together on their mission and their interactions were a highlight of this book.

There are a lot of surprises and some not-so surprising revelations in this book. I’m very glad I read it. The dark and creepy atmosphere was spot on and is one of the things which is consistently amazing throughout the series. I felt like the ending was a little too neat and somewhat unrealistic considering everything that had led up to that point. Jackal remains one of my favourite characters and it was nice to see his development over the three books.

If you’re a fan of the Blood of Eden series, I strong recommend this book. It’s nice to spend more time with characters and be drawn into the dark and mysterious world Julie Kagawa has created. This series is one of my favourite vampire ones in the Young Adult realm with the monsters being truly horrifying and the romance being heartfelt. This series is the first I’ve read by Kagawa and I enjoy her writing style. I’ll definitely be reading more by her in the future.

Last book of the Blood of Eden serie by Julie Kagawa !
LOVED IT ! from book 1 till the end.
Kagawa's writing is sublime, you just can't stop reading it. The character are sweet and kick-asses. My favorite: Jackal the ultimate bad boy anti hero !!! love his sassy banter and attitude.

If you want a fast paced and awesome vampire serie than stop looking for it and pick this one up !!! you won't be disappointed 💗💗💗

This was a disappointment after the excitement and excellence of Books 1 and 2... I found myself skimming in the middle because I recognized the plot structure. TBH, with judicious editing, the first and last chapters of this book could have simply been put at the end of Book 2.

There was also a Key Twist Moment of High Drama and Tragedy that was quite unnecessary. It was entirely solvable and it rendered what should have been a "meaningful" moment frustrating. So ... yeah ... disappointing.

Before I start with The Forever Song I'd like to ramble about the trilogy in general. This is one of those trilogies where you feel like the protagonists will never catch a break. Yes, one of those. It is constant fighting, blood, drama, and stress. It is stressful and gruesome, but I love it. There were times I was thinking,"Wow, Ms. Kagawa haven't the characters had ENOUGH?" But no, no they had not in fact. The Forever Song and the whole trilogy is about pushing forward no matter how beaten down you are. All for the greater good. Hoping that there are brighter days ahead.

Here is a gruesome quote for you:

"They had been split open, gutted from chin to groin, intestines spilling from their stomachs like pink snakes. Blood soaked the entire front of their bodies, wet and black, filling the air with the smell of death."

The Forever Song picks up after The Eternity Cure. After the ending of The Eternity Cure, I wanted to know what was going to happen and I did not want to wait for the next book. Anyway, at first I figured Zeke was killed by the insane vampire Sarren and that was that - no questions asked. But then I was questioning whether Sarren would turn him into a vampire after that ending.

I liked Allison as the main character, she could get whiny at times, but went through some great character development. I was a little tired of the humanity/monster struggle she had, but nevertheless she was a tough and strong character. It is interesting thinking back to her days of despising vampires, and Kanin training her.

Jackal, the "realist," is by far my favorite character of the entire trilogy. His snide comments were awesome! I love that he is blunt and sarcastic. I hated him in book 1, but he ended up not being all that bad. I feel like in this last book Allison started to rub off on him more than he would admit. In the end I loved that he decided to travel instead of being a ruthless vampire that he once was. I thought that was the perfect conclusion for him. Although It would have been nice if he would have helped with spreading the cure, I know that would completely go against his character. Julie Kagawa did an amazing at staying true to all of the characters throughout the series.

Like Jackal, I loved Kanin. He was very patient with the younger crowd and he was the glue that held everyone together. He was the level headed one of the crowd.

I felt the trilogy was wrapped up nicely, the sad parts were justified, and everyone could take a breather by the end. I loved The Forever Song, but The Eternity Cure was quite hard to top. The Blood of Eden series is one of my favorites, and definitely my favorite YA vampire series. I remember picking up the first book on a whim last year, and now it is a favorite!

I'll leave you with a few Jackal quotes:

“Seeing as this is probably my last hurrah, I don't suppose I could get you two bleeding hearts to massacre a village with me? For old time's sake."

“That sounds about right for this group. You bleeding hearts are going to be the death of me, I just know it.”

“Oh, isn’t that sweet,” came Jackal’s loud, mocking voice... “Let’s make goo-goo eyes at each other in the middle of a stinking corpse field, how very romantic.”

“Go ahead, tell him that everything is going to be fine. All the meatsacks are perfectly content on their happy little island, Sarren has given up world destruction to raise kittens, and the magic wish fairy will wave her wand and turn shit to gold.”

This was such an epic conclusion. This trilogy lived up to my expectations. I laughed, cried, screamed but at the end all these emotions were totally worth it.

I got the chance to meet amazing characters; characters that were driven, determined, brave, and heroic. I don't usually read vampires related books but this trilogy stands out among both vampires and dystopian genres. Julie Kagawa delivers once more. What can't she do?

This was such a fresh and imaginative thrill ride that I highly recommend it.

All the feels! The Forever Song was my favourite book in this series.

Allie is broken from losing Zeke, and now vengeance is the only thing driving her. The road to revenge is paved in blood and heartache and I loved every minute of it.

Sarren has a head start and he isn't making it easy to follow him, let alone beat him to Eden. Allie and her unconventional family have to figure out a way to beat the psychotic vampire before he unleashed his hell on earth.

Jackal drove the story for me with his sarcastic humour and unpredictable nature. It lightened the mood when Allie was on a rampage or getting her soul crushed. I didn't always agree with the choices that Allie made, but in the end she made me proud.

The story was well paced and the conclusion was great without being too conveniently wrapped up.
