it’s been exactly two weeks since this swoony slow burn slapped a smitten, goofy grin on my face and completely scorched what was left of my TBR. the chemistry between these two former high school rivals is as cute as it is combustible, and Jedediah is actual southern perfection—I mean, back rubs and nachos as finishers?? …

Parks and Provocation by Juliette Cross was a cute enemies to lovers meets second chance in Small town USA. Lola had her whole life planned, but she didn't plan on losing her job and having to move back home. She also didn't plan for Jed Lawson to come back into her life, ruining her life plans, like he was the Kool-aid man ruining a wall with his hunky firefighter self. I didn't want to put this book down. Maybe it was the setting of Green Valley or seeing Lola fall in love with Jed. This dual POV was a little heavy on the Lola side. It came with the reminder that communication is key, and not everything is as it seems. It ended with a HEA telling the audience to follow their heart, and happiness doesn't have to be about material things.

A single man who is a hero firefighter, supportive son, brother, and uncle with a strong mind and heart ready for love? Yes, yes, please!

Juliette Cross does it again... writing the most amazing male lead that every reader will love! Jed is a caring member of the small community of Green Valley, he has a good relationship with long-time friends, his father, sibling and their families yet he is single and longing for a love of his own. Synchronicity is at work here and his sister sends him off to help a woman who accidentally locked her keys in her car. Jed has the skills, the tools, and the compassion to swiftly drive over and help our female lead Lola. He finds out that the woman in distress is his friend/obsession/nemesis from high school and he wants to reestablish their friendship... and more.

Along their journey Jed and Lola interact with truly lovable characters who live in and around Green Valley. It is a delightful tale full of the usual will it or won't it be a HEA for Lola. I thoroughly enjoyed the read and look forward to reading about more Green Valley Heroes!

This book was put on my TBR because of the amazing reviews it got by friends. I did not expect to feel so connected to Jedd. Having a learning disability is such a struggle so many people.seeing this representation in a book made me so happy. I want to read all the book in this universe!

This was an adorable read! I took to Jed immediately. He is all pining sweetie wrapped up in a literal firefighter hero shell. He is kindhearted and loving and wears his heart on his sleeve. He has real Ren from Always Only You or Red from Get a Life, Chloe Brown vibes. He also has Dyslexia and I love seeing that represented well! (And I think this was - doesn’t mean it will resonate with everyone - no group of humans is a monolith.) Lola I definitely took longer to warm too. I did in the end though and loved watching her realize what her real priorities were and how they were dictating her life and not actually fulfilling her. I also loved watching her struggle with falling for her high school nemesis. (Who really didn’t want to be her nemesis at all!)

I will say again - I haven’t read any other of the books so there were a WHOLE CAST of characters that I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to know or not? But still super fun!

Thank you to the author and publisher for my complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

[a: Juliette Cross|7795664|Juliette Cross|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1448509244p2/7795664.jpg] has blown me away with a good old fashioned romance story. No vampires, no vessels of light, just a regular man and woman. I mean, if you can call sexy wildfire fire fighters “regular”. I’m always hesitant to read a romance with a fireman as a main character. Being married to a fireman, I’m always worried that the fiction telling will be so far off reality that I won’t enjoy the story. Naturally, Juliette Cross knew what she was doing here.

Lola Landry really could’ve use some anxiety meds.

This romance was a lot of fun! It had some second chance, high school frenemies to lovers, opposites attract set in a small town. The story was not a particular stand out (and I think I liked the last book in this series a hair more), but I loved the way that the two leads reconnected. Something about the first date podcast format made the beginning so light and engaging. These books have me so curious to continue with the smartypants romances. 🗣👥⚖️🌧
