It definitely answered any lingering questions as to what happened to the circus from the first book but like many others I feel like this book was forced and rushed. It really is more like book 1 and a half like it was a proper ending to the first book. I feel like the author could have done so much more with it but it is what it is. I'm glad I read it. But it's certainly not a must read. Will we get lucky enough for a prequel? I'd love to know Gonkos story more.

I've never felt more sympathy for a flower pot than I did while reading this book. I could probably read a whole other series just about Goshy. Or about any of the veteran clowns, really -- how did they get this way? Who were they before? Who initiated them and what happened to those clowns?

I'd also like to register a complaint that the stage production of [b:The Pilo Family Circus|4748221|The Pilo Family Circus|Will Elliott|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1331518851s/4748221.jpg|4812858] isn't available on DVD. It looks awesome and I'd buy it.
