I liked the angst and growth of the characters, and I'd have probably given it 4 stars if a Dewey Decimal Call Number was not misidentified as a Library of Congress one. Note some mild content may not be suitable for all readers.

Hilarious and good and... ahhh. Great book about camp, friends, love, and more.

Honest to god, one of the absolute best books I've ever read. I marked over 100 brilliant quotes and there has only ever been three books in my lifetime where it was necessary to mark quotes.
I absolutely 150% recommend this and suggest that you randomly pick this up at your local book store ASAP because this book was absolutely beautiful and I fell in love with all of it more than I thought I was going to when I started reading it 12 hours ago.
There aren't many books that I commit to reading in a single day but you will read this book easily that fast.
So beyond what I dreamed it would be and I cannot even form a sentence to explain what it is actually about other than: everything you need to hear right now. I will put money on it that this book will just help you through whatever you're going through regardless of what it is because this book by far just encompasses every aspect of life without including too much of anything.
It's a perfect balance of real life and fiction and relatable characters and love and friendship and fighting and family and is honestly just beyond words.
Read it. Period.

This book is definitely too earnest and precious and full of Deep Thoughts but I don't really care. It captures a very specific feeling very well.

The prose and setting were dreamy and beautiful, and Gloria was a fun, fleshed-out character with quirks and stuff that made her irrational and flawed. I LOVE that I can actually remember her name; my pet peeve is books with a first-person POV where I don't remember the narrator's name afterward.
However, I felt like the plot wasn't very developed. I feel like there was a moment at the beginning that foreshadowed some Big Conflict with the Coal Coalition/Sol Coalition thing, but that conflict was neither a) explained very much nor b) important to the plot. The Sol Coalition's side was talked about a little, in simplistic, naive, "hey we should love Mother Nature" terms, but there was never any expositional/informative discussion in which the Coal Coalition's side was explained. It was only, "they like money."
