okay so this book is kind of good, until the totally unneeded and surprising sexual assault. kind of ruined it. I still love Sidney though my guy is trying his hardest

Disappointing. The research on the period was a bit too visible and the actual crimes full of clichés. Some gratuitous sadism towards the « silly woman who confronted the criminal alone and had to be rescued » trope. Sigh.
