I’m not really sure how I feel about this book. Maybe I’m not in the right place for it, but I struggled through this one. I enjoyed the beginning, but as the book continued I just could not really get into it. This is part of a reading group, so I hope I can find things to contribute when the time comes.

Beautiful, uplifting, and inspirational. Makes me want to go live in the woods. A favorite.

You know a book isn't going to be amazing when the author describes snakes as poisonous instead of venomous. I really wanted to like this book, but it just wasn't for me. Some parts were philosophical and deep, but more of it was boring.

This book is full of quiet introspection. She observes nature and ties it to the human experience. It is beauty tinged with sorrow. It is slow and quiet and rich with visuals and emotion. I recommend this book, but I warn that you have to be in the right frame of mind to read it. But if you are, it will affect you deeply.

It was okay. While there were beautiful portions, I did not see or understand the overall arrangement and messaging.

Beautifully written but too maudlin for when I am right now. I’m sure it hits other people differently, but it was simply too heavy for me at this moment. Gorgeous prose though.

Beautiful prose about the beauty of the natural world and the complexity of the human condition. I enjoyed savouring it by reading one essay a day over several weeks.

It's a meditation, a spiritual reflection. If that's your thing, I think you'll like it. If I owned a hard copy, I'd shelf it next to Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, if I owned a hard copy of that.
