Doctor Who: Dead Media is a delightful little adventure in the Twelfth Doctor's life span, taking place while he's at university but before he met Bill.

I suppose audiobook is a term this could fall under but this is from BigFinishProductions and plays much more like a production audio drama which it is. Now the difference there is that it's not just narration but the soundscape is built, you can feel the environment, and how it's being read is explained within the story. It seems arbitrary that I'm taking time to talk about it but I'm explaining it so that you wouldn't be surprised if you were to give this a shot because I think this is a delightful short trip.

The writing is clever and serves the medium very well as the Doctor is recording a podcast episode recounting a story that also has to do with audio technology. Very very good. I also think the authorial voice is strong, and that they have the elements of 12's voice that I love so much.

Jacob Dudman's best impression is of the 11th Doctor, but his 12 impression is also very good. Some of the specifics of Peter Capaldi's voice are missing, the strong syllables don't have the same edge and the voice doesn't reach as high or low but this didn't bother me as it's good enough paired with the strong authorial voice that it plays very well.

It's a strong little story with one my very favorite Doctor's and I enjoyed it to bits. It is a very good listen if you're interested in more adventures of 12.
