Another wonderful book in this series. The life wisdom is priceless. I like how in each new book the "minor" characters are being fleshed out and added to the plot lines.

Maybe I wasn't in the right mind space. The many digressions irritated rather than charmed. Why couldn't we have seen Violet? She is mentioned but never appears.

Less interesting as usual, but still very enjoyable to read as always. I love how McCall-Smith expresses thoughts and feelings of his characters in this series. Always feels like a return to a comfortable, enjoyable place.
