George Orwell created one of the most complex and mind-altering dystopian societies I've ever read about. The society Winston lives in is terrifying and inhuman, it is surreal. And yet, you can't help but notice the way it resembles our present day.
There were moments where I literally could not put the book down, I was so caught up in everything that I needed to know what was going to happen next. But there were also moments where I didn't feel too invested, or it got a bit tedious.
Overall, it is an incredible book, truly brilliant and thought-provoking.

“He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past.”

Update: After analysing this for class, I had to give it 5 stars. It took me a while to fully take in this masterpiece but once I did, I couldn't ignore everything it has to offer. Highly recommend.

I liked this book. I think the message was great. I enjoyed the beginning more than the middle and the end of the book. I do not think the end needed to be that long.

It's honestly rather terrifying how this book is coming to life in our current society. Please read it.
