The significance of the theme of blood was what stood out the most to me. These poems were so powerful, and I really admire how they’re all weaved together. I love the sounds Smith uses; reading certain stanzas that caught my eye was a wonderful experience✨

A beautiful collection of poems on life experiences in race, disability, queerness, and being black in America.

Powerful language, powerful messages, made even more powerful by the fact that I was listening to the poet himself. If you read this collection, please listen to the audiobook.
