I was excited for this book after getting to know Ryker a bit with the Indianapolis Eagles. This book kicks off the new San Francisco Shockwaves series. I can tell I'm already going to love this series too. I was even more excited to read this one because Ryker is a single dad. This book gave me what I expect and why I look forward to a book by Samantha Lind. It's a make you feel good story. I loved the bond Ryker's daughter Ellie creates with Avery. It's a special part of the book for me. Ryker is such a great dad and it warmed my heart watching rock the single dad role. Avery and Ryker are cute together. This is a neighbors to lovers story because Ryker and Ellie move next door to Avery. I loved Avery's dog Max. A great addition to the story for me. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

This was my first experience with a hockey romance book and I can definitely see the appeal. Super fun story. Ryker and Avery are so sweet and the little bit of spice was so perfect.
Tropes: single dad, hockey romance, friends to lovers, instalove, humor, protective tendencies, age gap
I picked this book up with the rest of the series at the @northiowabookbash from author @samanthalindauthor ! Go give her a follow and see what other books she has.

I had been waiting for Ryker's story. He had caught my attention at the end of the Indianapolis Eagles series, and I quickly marked this book down as one I had to read.
Over all I liked the romance between Avery and Ryker. These neighbors turned lovers had me smiling quite a few times. The relationship between Avery and Ellie really drew me in. They formed a bond early on, and Ellie could see what her dad couldn't.
As the story progressed, I found myself waiting for the drama to happen. There were a couple of times when I thought it would happen, but then nothing. I think I've finally realized that the author just doesn't write those scenes into her books. So I should stop looking for it! Especially since I've read a few books by Samantha Lind.
All in all the story was good. Yes I wanted more from the characters. Yes I wanted the dramatic moment for the couple. At the same time, I just really like Ryker. He drew me in, and I was happy to see him find his happily ever after.
Will I continue with the series? That I'm not certain about. I didn't feel a pull to any of the other teammates. I don't have that connection. So time will tell.

A father's love. A daughter's tenacity. A stranger's kiss. Ryker gives the heart a bit of a breather from the heaviness of heartache. With a dose of sweet and a hint of sultry it's hard not to fall in love. The soul won't know what hit it once it gets a taste of this delicious delight.

This was my first “Blind Date with a Book” and it was really fun! This book is all about the steam. Outside of that, it was the perfect fantasy life for the FMC to be living next to a professional hockey player and he has the perfect daughter, etc. No drama, no plot
