OH MY GOODNESS! This book took me by so much surprise! I dont know what I was expecting but it sure wasn't what the ending of this book was! Jamie McGuire is one my all time favorite authors and while this is very different from her other novels this was just as amazing!

This is one of those books that's beautiful, but in a heart wrenching kind of way. A young boy (11 or so years old,) spots a girl (from a distance) and is immediately in awe of her, and quickly realizes its love. Fast forward a few years, and they are not both in high school. He finally gets his chance to meet her in person. They become best friends, but he is abruptly pulled away without a word to her. Both are devastated. Fast forward again to their senior year. He returns, but can she forgive him for leaving her when she needed him the most? As he works on earning her forgiveness, she is suffering from a crazy and unhealthy home life. There are lots of secrets she is keeping and they play a major role in the book, but we, readers are kept in the dark until the very end. Talk about a twist. Can't say much about it without giving away spoilers that will ruin the whole thing for ya.

The lead characters are hopeful yet feel helpless. There are plenty of side characters, some playing a larger role than others, that are unique and real. As far as the writing goes, it's good, but there were a few instances that it seemed the segues were so abrupt that I thought I had skipped a paragraph or something... felt like I was missing some content, the way it changed subjects. Nothing major, but made it not as easy to read, since I often went back to see if I did indeed skip a line or two.

There is no sex, but there is some violence. There is a lot of bullying played out and some mental health issues, depression, as well as domestic abuse.

This was not the 'light, easy going' book I thought it would be. I have to admit that I did not see the 'secret' coming.

Good.

This is a good YA novel. It's intense from the mental health angle, but it is still so good. I had my list of possible suspects, so it's not entirely surprising at the end. Even though this book was good, I don't think it is something I would like to read again.

Thanks Netgalley for a ARC to read and give my honest opinion.

Fans of Beautiful Disaster please get excited for another beautiful love story. This book is sort of PG since there is no sex and barely any cuss words. What we do have is a beautiful romance with a little gritty angst that the author is known for. I enjoyed it immensely and was glued to my kindle for hours. Five beautiful stars of entertainment! That ending was spooky and a killer! No pun intended :)

The book starts with Elliot, he's sent to his Aunts to live because his mother and father are having marital problems. Life with his Aunt and Uncle is much better and he becomes aware of the little girl down the street. He is captivated with her and takes pictures of her constantly.
Catherine has a strange childhood, and her sun rises and sets on her father's love. She befriends Elliot and they become two peas in a pod. On the day before Elliot has to go back to his moms a tragedy happens, and the two are ripped apart.
A couple of years go by and Elliot is reunited with his princess but things are not what they seem. He goes through the process of getting her to trust him again but so many things are battling against the two young lovers that fate seems hopeless. Great ending to a fabulous tale!

I enjoyed it very much. The love story is heartwarming but the plot twist left me not knowing what hit me. There are some plot holes which could have been properly closed, but nothing too disturbing.

Perfect

This book. It was the perfect mix between teen romance and mystery. It'll keep you on your goes later on. I highly recommend
