I find the entire series really entertaining. It makes me want to go back to high school and think about what I did wrong, or stupid.

Well, 4 books in 2-3 days! I couldn't put it down. When I finished book 1, I was frantic to read book 2 already. And so on. I love Ruby Oliver. I wished I had the chance to be at Tate Prep and be her friend, although sometimes she acts and says stupid things that would drive people nuts, and would seem to push them away. Her whirlwind of thoughts is disconcerting at times. She started to be over-the-top immature. Then again, she was just a high school 'struggler'. And I loved her for that. I don't really think she's a roly-poly, or a leper, or something of the ludicrous kind, even when she highly thought so.

Anyhoo, I love how the story or the entire thing progressed. There was never a dull moment from book 1 to book 4, only mental ones **wink-wink**. And I missed my own high school. I fervently hoped I had read these books when I was still 15... I think I would've survived with a better understanding of social interactions and stuff. As much as this was entertaining, it was highly therapeutic, too. 'Therapeutic-ally' funny. Highly recommended, not just for teens, but also for teens-at-heart, too. Though I doubt people over the age of 40 would think so. But, heck, I'm buying copies for my kids to read, when the time comes.

I'm procuring copies of other E. Lockhart's pieces, too. A talent like hers is marketing enough. :]

#4 in the saga of roo oliver, my favorite teenage panic-prone houseboat-dweller. it's a short read, and hardly action-packed, but i love roo's lists, and i even like her footnotes ok.*

ruby is with noel now, until he returns from a visit to his brother acting like a lobotomy patient. ruby is also being wooed by gideon, her friend nora's brother. also her parents are acting like nutters, and she needs to apply to colleges. how can a panicky person handle all this?

another reviewer mentions that she likes how the roo books don't have perfectly tied-up happy endings, and i appreciate that too. but while reading this one i really wanted the catharsis of having something awful or humorously humiliating happen to kim & cricket. alas, i was left unsatisfied.

*footnotes often make me crazy. i lose my place.

This is it.
I finished the Ruby Oliver series.

I used to think I hadn't finished reading the series because I didn't have time, or the library didn't have it, or I was too lazy to find it.
But now I realize that I probably had this Subconscious Michelle begging me not to finish the series, to spare me this hollow feeling inside that happens when you finish a series you really really really like

FOUR BOOKS OF BEAUTIFUL, WONDERFUL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND CUTE ROMANCE AND GORGEOUS DIALOGUE AND SO. MANY. BOYS.

Thank you, Ruby, from 13-year-old Michelle and 17-year-old Michelle and all the Michelles in between

Fantastically smart and entertaining chick-lit for the young.

This was the weakest of the series. The plot wasn't as fun or as interesting. However, I think there are some really poignant lines about relationships - for example, not depending on a relationship to make you happy, understanding that the relationship will involve ups and downs, etc.

I liked this one a lot more than the last two! The ending was not 100% perfect, and I would have liked it if Kim and Cricket could have been given some nuance, seeing as how they were her best friends for so long, but I also know they became sort of the villains in this book especially. I'm really just thrilled with her final boy choice, since he's been my favorite since the beginning (Angelo being a close second), and I'm glad we didn't have Jackson anymore because uuuuuugh

I absolutely adore this series and the characters, which automatically brings this book a high rating.
The writing style and the realism of everything also contributes.

Unfortunately, this book was pointless.
Everything was wrapped up in the last book and nothing happened in this one.

Ruby was worried about the same things.
SpoilerNora came back, Gideon made a move and then got lost, Noel was there but he wasn't there. It all happened, and it didn't seem like it needed to be told.
Ruby definitely grew up. That was the best thing about this book. She figured out her problems and the panic attacks were gone. She was going to go to college and she would be okay.

Regardless, it still is Ruby Oliver, and anyone who loved the first three books should definitely read this one.
After all, it's the last we'll be able to read of these fantastic people.

Oh Ruby. Roo. When will you begin to think? Never apparently.
