This book picks up right where book one ends. The beginning was super captivating just like book one, but it slowly went down a bit for me. The ending was very good though! That slower middle section just made it lose one star for me. I’m excited to read the other two books and finish this series!!

Wow. I thought this one was even better than Ember in the Ashes.

It dragged at a few points and the weird love square was still weird.
Helene is bae.

“Don’t you see? So long as you fight the darkness, you stand in the light.”
I really enjoyed the sequel to An Ember in the Ashes. It took my favourite characters on a brand new adventure and I got the extra POV character I wanted.
The story is still fast-paced but with a bunch of different settings than the first book. It was a super exciting adventure with lots of growth, change, and heartbreak, and I can’t say more than that.
Some great quotes:
“I’ll always miss you. Even when I’m a ghost.”
“The stars are so different when you’re free.”
“I thought you told me you loved stories. Have you ever heard a story of an adventurer with a sane plan?”
