The dystopian hellscape vibe is super strong in this and there are a lot of really gory scenes so just be ready. Lily doesn’t pull any punches with this installment. The body horror and blood/trauma is especially graphic.

I felt like sometimes things came to Adam too easily but on the other hand I also feel like he was actually good at being out in the wastes and just never got the chance to use the skills he definitely developed living in a raider camp.Â
This is truly, so far, my fav book in the series.Â

I hope the cannibal cult gets addressed later in the series. Something remarkable to me about this series and the way the author has set it up is how well loose ends are being tied up over the course of the series. It was super frustrating early in the series for random characters, like Collector Mary, to be mentioned in throw-away lines without follow-up. I'm really appreciating it now.
