How can anyone not love Sem and Maggie? I really liked them both in Whit and that love just grew in this book. They both come off as fun loving people, but the deeper you get you realize that they also both suffer from their own emotional issues. I mean, seriously, Sem stalks Maggie. And while there were definitely some more emotional and darker moments, the story was full of humour. I loved how much they both grew with each other. What started as a weird, stalkerish relationship ended up perfectly. Maggie was such a firecracker, I can just imagine him climbing up Sem and wrapping himself around him.

TBR graveyard

This sat in my TBR for months. I read Whit and loved every bit of it but I’m not really one for interconnected series so I procrastinated on the rest. This book, however, was just so easy to read. I flowed so well and was fairly low angst.

This book felt icky. I know a lot of people like it, but I think there's too many unbelievable elements shoved into a single book—the stalking, the being annoyed instead of creeped out by the stalking, the straight man deciding he's gay for exactly one man, the childish taunting and the sex that comes from it. This entire book felt like some fever dream, and not in a good way.

“I can still feel you inside of me. I can still taste you. Hear you. You’ve invaded all of my senses, Sem. I don’t want anyone else but you. You have to know that.”

I almost didn’t read this because I didn’t like Whit or the Inevitable duet, so I was planning on cutting ties with Cora Rose altogether. But there was just something about Magnus and Sem from Whit that had me curious so I kept this on the back burner of my TBR and I am so glad I did.

I don’t mind suspending reality a bit for a good story. Was this at all realistic? Maybe, maybe not. But the chemistry between Sem and Maggie was off the charts. The first spicy scene literally had me fanning myself. It was obvious Sem was smitten as a kitten from the beginning, but I actually really enjoyed the build up on Magnus’s part. This series should’ve been named Inevitable because that’s how it felt when they finally got together.

The book isn’t marketed as such, but this gave semi-dark romance vibes. Sem was very “touch him and die” about Maggie and I loved every second of it. Honestly I just loved every second of everything. If this book was 1,000 pages I would’ve stayed sat for all of it.

Maggie is my favorite kind of character. I have the biggest soft spot for spitfire twinks. But honestly Sem weaseled his way into my black heart and I wasn’t expecting it at all. Every time he got a POV I was close to tears. I just loved both of them, individually and together. The way their “relationship” started, their intimacy, the spice… Everything was just perfect. Well, the third act breakup kinda sucked but I’ll excuse it.

This book also made me really interested in reading Emery too, so I guess I haven’t written off Cora Rose. Sorry for doubting you, queen.

As for the audiobook, blah. I wish I’d looked at the narrators before I bought it. I LOVE Liam DiCosimo, he’s my all-time favorite narrator. But Alexander Cendese… There’s just something about his voice that grates on my soul, and it was him for like 80% of the book. And the fact that he kind of ruined Maggie, one of my most favorite characters, for me sucks.
