(I received an ARC for this book)

Trigger Warnings include:
mentions of statutory rape, no acts on page!!!

This starts when Asher and Ledger first meet. That title line coming in hot! And then we’re brought to the present, where it’s Ledger’s turn to go work on location. But he doesn’t get to enjoy a tropical paradise like this brother did. No, he’s thrust back into the small town where he left his heart behind. This is the kind of small town where everyone knows everyone, and everything. Secrets aren’t secrets, and gossip is the daily news. Ledger and Asher did not only go separate ways with broken hearts, but because of lies and deceit. But it’s those heartbreaking reasons that brings them to who they are today, as everything unfolds. Ledger seemed so easily ready to let the past be the past, but Asher just won’t let go of it. Like she wanted to punish Ledger for things out of his control. But mostly, punish herself. I wasn’t sure if she was strong and independent, or too angry at the world to think straight. There was so much back and forth there. The whole book built Asher to be a force, getting through on her own mindset and strength. But their happily ever after seems to just wipe that all away. That’s where this lost the fifth star. The ending felt rushed all the sudden, just because he needed a grand gesture to find forgiveness (when he really didn’t have anything to forgive). The epilogue IS the ending they deserve. But the grand gesture to get there seemed to rush things that shouldn’t have been rushed. Aside from the banter that I’ve come to enjoy between the triplets, there’s complete disconnect between this and Last Resort. I had really hoped for more of a connection since they’ve made their bond stronger!

My Favorite Quotes:
• “I’ve waited fifteen years to kiss you again…what’s a few more days?”
• “Because when it comes to you, I can’t seem to stay away.”
• “You’re stunning. Simply f!cking stunning.”
• “Let me admire what I f!cked into oblivion earlier. Let me kiss it and make it all better.”
• “God, I love the f!cking smell of you. The taste of you. The f!cking feel of you.”
• “Teach me how to pleasure you. I want to know. Show me.”
• “This is the part where you start thinking about me all day.”
• “I think you’re a lot of people. I’m pretty sure I like all of them.”
• “I’m glad you chose me.”
• “I touched it because I don’t want to spend another day where either of us doesn’t feel one another’s presence.”

I’m a big fan of second chance romance and I really enjoyed this book.

The ending just feels super rushed. What was her week away for? She doesn’t want Ledger to touch the barn but he still did. They fought and then he proposed? I was a bit confused.

DNF @ 48% — Couldn’t deal with Asher, I was annoyed. Sorry but Ledger’s story might be a sad one full of second chances but not for me.

This is another "tiktok made me read it" that was just fine.
The plot was decent. The third act breakup wasn't so mild I would go so far to say there wasn't one. The spicy scenes were so boring, short, and undescriptive, I would recommend this book to my mother. Maybe even grandmother.
Why did I not DNF? Because I'm a sucker for a series with rich brothers. I read the first book and will likely read the third one when it comes out. I won't buy it, but I'll check it out at the library.
