Wow. This may be one of the best YA books I have ever read. This is marketed as YA but I really appreciate the author for making this more adult and not treating the characters like children in a way where these characters are going through some really tough things, navigating racism and being bullied at school. The characters felt so real, their character development felt so genuine.

This book I feel needs more hype, more people need to read this important book about racism as a young person and handling falling out of friendships, processing aging grandparents and the pain of them losing their memories, parents fighting and maybe not having the healthiest relationship. Those are a lot of things that kids go through and are real things teen have to deal with. I thought this author did such an amazing job balancing all of these moments and walking us through as the characters are processing and walking out all of this too.

This took me a few chapters to get into, I didn’t think I’d love the plot, but it grew on me…I think!
It wasn’t a deep book at all, though feelings were talked about a lot, it felt necessary To the storyline rather than a glimpse into the characters, though it did evolve into depth as the book progressed.
Honestly this book really felt like a teen romance novel and I wanted it to be more…whilst I didn’t hate it, I didn’t love it either!

This book was decent. I enjoyed the little plot twist it wasn’t what I was expecting it to be and although it had a third act breakup it wasn’t because of the typical miscommunication. It did feel like it dragged on a few chapters too long, but overall it was sort of entertaining. Carter and Quinn were cute. I’d be interested in reading a second book about Olivia and Auden’s relationship. Loved that it has my favorite quote from Bring It On “You’ve been touched by an angel girl.”

A good book to start off anyone's reading journey. The writing is done so well; you can almost invision what exactly is going on as you read it.
