I ended up liking this more than I thought I would. The characters were endearing, they had excellent development, and the conflict worked well to propel the plot forward.

Wow. This may be one of the best YA books I have ever read. This is marketed as YA but I really appreciate the author for making this more adult and not treating the characters like children in a way where these characters are going through some really tough things, navigating racism and being bullied at school. The characters felt so real, their character development felt so genuine.

This book I feel needs more hype, more people need to read this important book about racism as a young person and handling falling out of friendships, processing aging grandparents and the pain of them losing their memories, parents fighting and maybe not having the healthiest relationship. Those are a lot of things that kids go through and are real things teen have to deal with. I thought this author did such an amazing job balancing all of these moments and walking us through as the characters are processing and walking out all of this too.

A super cute journey of self discovery. I loved going on Quinn’s (Queen’s) journey as she dealt with the consequences of her actions, mended relationships, and boldly stood up for herself in regards to her future and in the face of racism.

I was so proud of her!
